The Scoop
Ewart Davies was visiting Fishguard in 1903 when he decided to send a postcard to his sister, Lydia. He posted the card to Lydia, who lived in Craddock Street, Swansea on the 3rd of August 1903 but it never arrived…until now!

The message on the postcard reads “Dear L. I could not, it was impossible to get the pair of these (thought to be the postcard). I am so sorry, but I hope you are enjoying yourself at home.”
The message continues, “I have got now about 10 shillings pocket money not counting the train fare so I'm doing alright."
It is thought Ewart, who was 13 at the time he sent the postcard, was staying with family in Fishguard. The Craddock Street address, where the postcard arrived, is now the headquarters of Swansea Building Society. The extremely late arrival of the postcard has led to several of Lydia and Ewart's descendants meeting for the first time. We all get post addressed to a previous occupant from time to time but this was a real blast from the past!
Vogue magazine started life as a weekly newspaper in 1892 and has gone on to feature the world’s biggest celebrities. This week, it was Pembrokeshire’s turn to star in the online version of British Vogue in a segment called ‘Vogue On The Road’. Erin Baker put a Kia EV9 through its paces on the roads of Pembrokeshire, enjoying many stops along the way.

Having visited Tenby, Saundersfoot, and St Davids, Erin stopped for lunch at The Shed in Porthgain, which “serves the best fish and chips known to man”. The overnight accommodation was The Trehilyn Estate, near Strumble Head and although the focus of the article is the vehicle, it is clear Pembrokeshire stole the show!
Nine year old Harry Lloyd suffers from a progressive neuromuscular condition but has not let that stop him for participating in boxing sessions. Harry attends inclusive boxing sessions at Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Amateur Boxing Club run by Chris McEwen, the chairman of Great Disability Boxing.

Harry is determined to compete in the Paralympics in the future and also makes key rings from sea glass he finds on the beach.
Speaking about Harry on TikTok, Chris said, “We have adapted skipping ropes that are weighted, and you don't have to jump over. Harry wanted to show me he could use a leather as skipping rope. The best thing about being a coach is being taught by your student.”
