The Scoop
Ralph Gammer is known to anyone with an interest in boxing, not only in Pembrokeshire, but throughout Wales and the UK. A coach at Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Amateur Boxing Club, Ralph has trained boxers to compete in the Commonwealth Games. The club also offers inclusive boxing sessions to those with disabilities.

Ralph received the lifetime achievement award from the Amateur Boxing Association. A post on the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock ABC read, “Ralph is a legend within our local community and the sport. His years of dedication changing lives and creating champions. Congratulations Ralph from everybody at Pembroke Boxing Club past and present”.
A Pembrokeshire photographer has been shortlisted in the Street Category section for the 2024 British Photography Awards. Gillian Mackay is a member of the Tenby Camera Club and will be travelling to London for the ceremony, which takes place on November 4th.

Talking about her fantastic photo (as seen above), entitled ‘Ice Cream Please’ Gillian said, “I’m delighted and thrilled to be shortlisted for this, because it was certainly a surreal moment when I saw a wild pony harassing a lady in a queue for ice cream”.
Firefighters from Haverfordwest Fire Station came to the rescue when two ducks were caught in fishing line on the River Cleddau. The firefighters responded to a request for assistance from the RSPCA and caught the ducks in a net before releasing them from the fishing line.

Following the safe removal of the fishing line, the ducks were put into the care of the RSPCA.
