The Scoop
Milford Haven School is the first school in Pembrokeshire to receive the prestigious UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School Award. It is a tremendous achievement and the award is based on the commitment of the school to childrenβs rights in every aspect of school life. Milford Haven becomes only the seventh school in Wales to receive the award, which is the highest given by UNICEF in the UK.

Headteacher Ms Morris said, ββThis award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, pupils, and the community,β before continuing, βIt reflects our commitment to creating a learning environment where every pupil feels valued, heard, and empowered. We believe in fostering a culture of respect and responsibility, and this recognition validates our efforts to ensure that childrenβs rights are central to everything we do.β
Pembrokeshire has been officially named as the host county for the 2026 National Eisteddfod. It will be the first time the Eisteddfod has been in Pembrokeshire since 2002 and the hosting of the event will be shared with south Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.

If you want to find out more about the plans or you are interested in being involved in the 2026 Eisteddfod, a public meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday October 10th in Theatr y Gromlech, Crymych.
Over 11,000 bottles of apple juice have been produced at Clynfyw Care Farm in Abercych. The farm has been offering a community apple juicing service since 2014 but there are concerns about the number of apples being produced. There has been a shortage this year thanks to the wet spring, low bee population, and early September winds.

The farm is a home for adults with learning disabilities and welcomes other people with learning disabilities from the community. The apple juice service remains open until the end of October, so if you have apple trees, there is still time to visit Clynfyw Care Farm and create some delicious apple juice.
